Your Questions Answered
Given the nature of pearly penile papules treatment, we fully understand that you must have many questions. To allay any concerns, we have answered a list of FAQs, of which you can find below.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Our PPP procedure is like any other procedure in that it may carry some minor side effects. However, if you experience any, they will be minimal and you should expect them to subside naturally. Rest assured that our laser treatment is incredibly safe, as is our electrosurgical method of removing pearly penile papules.
How Long Do Papules Last?
Some men opt against seeking PPP treatment as they believe that the papules will just disappear over time, but that is incorrect. Men who have pearly penile papules will have them forever unless they undergo specific treatment. Ours is the most effective and safest possible, so to permanently remove PPP, you should book an appointment with our team.
How Are They Removed?
Surgical destruction is the only way to remove PPP, and we have already mentioned that our pearly penile papules treatment can involve using a CO2 laser. Dr Joshua Berkowitz can also use an electrosurgical instrument to remove the papules. Before any surgical intervention begins, we will anaesthetise the end of the penis (the corona) with a topical gel or cream.
Generally, it will take around 15-30 minutes to numb the area so that you can undergo the PPP procedure pain-free. Each individual papule needs to be removed by one of the two methods mentioned. Dr Berkowitz will decide which is the most appropriate method for you.
Are They Common?
Very much so! One of the things we have noticed over the years is that men are often too embarrassed to discuss the condition because they feel it is very rare. In fact, it is the opposite. 1 in 5 men have pearly penile papules, which translates to around 20% of the male population. Around half of those men have papules that are of a size that would convince someone to seek PPP treatment.
These statistics show that there is no need to feel disheartened as many men across the world are dealing with the same thing. Often, men will refrain from telling their friends, and especially their sexual partners, but with our pearly penile papules treatment, you can regain your confidence.
Do Home Remedies Work?
In short, no. Some men have wasted their time and money applying tea tree oil, castor oil, and even toothpaste in an attempt to remove pearly penile papules. The only safe and effective way to get rid of them for good is through our PPP procedure.
What Should I Expect?
When you arrive for your consultation with our doctor, you will be immediately put at ease. The PPP treatment will be explained to you and you will be shown photos to give you a better idea of the procedure. You are free to ask any questions, and our team will be ready to reassure you should you feel any nerves. Your pearly penile papules treatment should last around 60 minutes.
How Long is the Recovery Time?
Generally, it should take around three weeks for you to recover fully following your pearly penile papules treatment. However, the time could be shorter, it depends on each individual. It is rare for someone to experience pain during this time, but you will be given the doctor’s telephone number should you have any issues.
Once the pearly penile papules treatment is complete, you will be handed written instructions on what to do to during the healing process.
